  • Senior Year Timeline
  • Admissions Testing 
    • SAT and ACT packets available in CareerCenter
    • Faster and easier to register online
    • Students are solely responsible for registration
    • Fees and deadlines available online and on registration packets
    • Review materials available on both national websites.
    • Not all schools require SAT or ACT. Call school for details.
    • Dates for receiving SAT results
  • Probe Fairs                      
  • College Applications       
    • Contact school’s admissions office.
    • Apply online Check deadlines online.
    • Request transcripts from guidance. Minimum 2 day turnaround time.
    • Request recommendation letters from teachers early.
    • Student mails application and all necessary documentation.
    • Apply online through the school’s website or www.gacollege411.org
  • College Visits                   
    • 2 excused visits to college per academic year
    • Paperwork available in attendance office
    • Student responsible for make up work
  • Financial Aid   
  • Scholarships      
    • Review scholarship files/notebook in CareerCenter monthly.
    • Meet with college financial aid officer.
    • Meet with CareerCenter Counselor.
    • Refer to AHS website for local scholarship postings.
  • Graduation Tests                   
    • Seniors must successfully pass all portions of the High School Graduation Tests to receive a diploma in Georgia.  The areas are Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Writing.
    • The tests are offered several times a year.
    • Check with your academic advisors, teachers, and counselors for dates and times.
  • EOCT               
    • Seniors enrolled in courses that require End of Course Tests will be expected to take the comprehensive finals in those courses. EOCTs count as 15% of the final grade. Failure to take the test will jeopardize receiving credit in the courses.
  • Senior Conferences      
    • Counselors will be scheduling individual senior conferences in the fall. It is very important that seniors attend these conferences.  During the conference youwill review your credits/grad status/program of study/etc.  If you miss your conference, please immediately reschedule with your counselor.
  • Make Up, Evening School, Extension, Online Coursework       
    • The student is ultimately responsible for checking with guidance to make sure any acceptable (authorized) make up work from teachers, night school, extension courses, PLC, or online courses is posted to your transcript.  Be sure to save any hard copy grade reports you receive. Forward copies to guidance if necessary.
  • NCAA              
    • Student athletes who plan to participate at the Division I or II level must register with the NCAA online at www.ncaaclearinghouse.org.  Print out paperwork that needs to be mailed with your transcript.
  • Records Requests          
    • Transcripts, insurance reduction paperwork, rank, GPA, etc may be requested by filling out the request form in the guidance lobby. This is the same form you use to request a counseling or career center appointment. Allow 3 day turnaround time. You may pick up your information in the Pick Up Box by Secretary’s desk.
  • GaCollege411  
    • The new website available to Georgia students to help Plan, Apply, and Pay for College. Modules include:  Career Information-Student Planner-College Research Applications/Transcripts-Paying for College-Savings Plans-Adult Learner. This is probably the only website you will ever need.
