Bethlehem's Tiara Mensinger named County Teacher of the Year!

 

Third grade teacher at Bethlehem Elementary School, has been recognized by her peers, administrators, and community members as being the BESt in the district. The Barrow County School System on Friday announced its system-wide Teacher of the Year for the upcoming school year as Tiara Mensinger. Bethlehem's Shooting Stars Rank Second in the State!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BES is not only home of the second BESt archery team in the state, but also home of the Elementary Boys State Archery Champion, Conyer Smith! Wow! We are so proud of our Shooting Stars! We would like to also congratulate Kohl Cato for finishing third in the state and Ashley Knowles for setting a new record at BES for the lady archers by shooting a 271! Thank you to Coach Duke and Coach Miller for your hard work with this amazing team!

 

BES's Annual Read-A-Thon Raises $1,600 for Adult Literacy Barrow!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On November 20th, students and teachers hosted a “READ-A-THON” where they brought in $1 to wear their pajamas and read in the gym of our school. Together we raised a grand total of 1,600.39! We are super proud of our BES Stars! Thank you to everyone who made the Read-A-Thon a tremendous success!This money will go towards a scholarship fund for the WBALC and/or sponsorships towards the WBALC.

 

BES Cafeteria scores 100% on Health Inspection!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Once again Bethlehem Elementary School's cafeteria staff has demonstrated it's commitment to excellence! On their most recent health inspection BES earned a 100%. Two thumbs way up to our fabulous cafe staff for providing wonderful food in a clean and healthy environment!

 

Congratulations to BES's own, Dr. Jan Witherington, the 2015 Distinguished Clinician in Teacher Education!

 

 

Building Our Leaders Deliberately describes Dr. Jan Witherington, a remarkable third grade educator at Bethlehem Elementary School. She was recently named the 2015 Distinguished Clinician in Teacher Education at the Southeastern Regional Association of Teacher Educators (SRATE) conference at Jekyll Island on October 9th. Dr. Barbara Benson said, "this award recognizes a school based teacher educator who's teaching and mentoring excellence merit special recognition."

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bethlehem Elementary Principal Mindy Reid remarked, "We are proud that Dr. Jan Witherington received the honor of Georgia Association of Teacher Education Distinguished Clinician in Teacher Education. Jan has hosted countless student teachers over the years and has mentored many educators in her time in Barrow County. She serves as an outstanding role model to college students who are preparing to accept the enormous responsibility of becoming a teacher. We couldn't be happier for her as she receives some well-deserved recognition." " Dr. Witherington has distinguished herself at Bethlehem Elementary by assisting other teachers in applying the content of pedagogy of effective teaching; emphasizing reflective teaching and self-analysis; employing exemplary coaching and conference techniques; and demonstrating additional outstanding supervisory skills with her colleagues."
