School Board Meeting Awards & Recognitions
September 2019: Duke University conducts the Duke Talent Search each year. Selected 7th grade students are invited to participate based on their academic performance. The following students scored at the State Recognition Level on their SAT or ACT: Henry Campbell, Anna Deaton, Nathaniel Kennedy, Mark Palakovich all from Russell Middle and Nathaniel Magnussen and Cassandra Ruiz both from Westside Middle.
September 2019: Governors Honors Program Finalists - The Barrow County School System nominated 25 extraordinary students to compete at the state level for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program, a residential summer program held for gifted and talented high school students in 10th or 11th grade. Two AHS students were selected as finalists: Connor Tourville in Mathematics and Rubi Islas in Communicative Arts.
