Statham Elementary has an incredible history. The school is over 100 years old. In 1906 the first all brick school building was built. This was known as Statham High School. The cost to build the building was $8000.00. In 1909 the school had its first graduating class. The three members of its graduating class were all girls. In 1940 a project to build a gymnasium was started but was stopped because of World War II. The gym was finally completed in 1942. The last year Statham served as a high school was 1956.
Throughout the years, Statham Elementary has gone through several renovations and construction. Up until 2007, the building could house approximatley 500 students. In 2007, a 2-story addition was added to the back of the school. The school can hold about 1000 students. Our community continues to grow but Statham Elementary continues to be “The Most Inviting Place In Town”.
