WBHS CHORUS SHINES

Chorus 2Recently, the Auxiliary of St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Georgia invited the Winder-Barrow High School Select Choral Ensemble to perform during the Love Lighting of the Christmas Tree. These select singers were chosen through a rigorous audition process this school year, and are involved in Mrs. Haley Cox-Mitchell’s Advanced Chorus class at WBHS. The students enjoy opportunities like this special event and others, and they demonstrate their dedication to excellence during rehearsals in class and after school. Four of Mrs. Cox-Mitchell’s students made All State Chorus this school year and will be going to Savannah, GA in February for this event. The students representing WBHS will be seniors, Abigail Brown and Jacob Pack, sophomore Margaret Petree, and freshman Amber Urso.

Another highlight for the Select Ensemble will be their upcoming performance for the Chamber of Commerce Luncheon at the Georgia Club, and singing at the Governor’s Mansion on December 11th. This Select Ensemble has recently been invited to perform for the UGA School of Music in the spring of 2012. Mrs. Cox-Mitchell remarked, “I’m very proud of these talented students and how well they represent our school in our community.” The WBHS Choral Program will host their annual Holiday Concert on Tuesday, December 6th at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary of the First Christian Church in Winder where all WBHS choral students will perform and the public is invited.
