Memorandum for: Parents/Guardians of JROTC Students
From:Senior Army Instructor
We welcome your student to the most exciting class at Winder Barrow High School: JROTC.
The purpose of this correspondence is to inform you of important rules and requirements which will impact the grade received in any ROTC class. In addition to the forms, this memorandum must be signed by the cadet or the guardian, and then returned to Major Evans, WBHS Army JROTC.
Haircuts: Male cadets are required to meet haircut standards as prescribed in AR 670-1, Uniform and Appearance. Hair must be off the ears and collar, no fad haircuts, no corn rows, no pony tails, and generally neat and well groomed. The hair of female cadets must not fall below the bottom edge of the collar (while in uniform). In no case will hair interfere with the wearing of the headgear (Military Hats).
Jewelry: Male cadets are not allowed to wear earrings at anytime/anyplace in JROTC class or JROTC activities. No cadets are allowed to wear nose or facial rings at anytime/anyplace.
Goatees and Beards: Not allowed.
Fingernails: Must be kept clean and evenly trimmed. The length of the nails will not exceed ½ inch (one-half). (Exceptions will be made for certain school related functions, i.e. Homecoming, Prom)
Uniforms: All cadets are required to wear the uniform as prescribed by the Army Instructors (normally once per week) during the school year. FAILURE TO WEAR THE UNIFORM MAY AND CAN RESULT IN THE CADET RECEIVING A FAILING GRADE.
Care and Maintenance of Uniforms: Normal cleaning and maintenance of cadet uniforms are the responsibility of the cadet. The cadet is responsible for all uniforms in his/her possession. Uniforms are the property of the Federal Government and must be returned at the end of the school year or withdrawal from school. Guardians are required to pay for any lost or stolen items not returned at current Army prices. No cadet shall receive a passing grade until all uniform items are returned to JROTC or paid for.
Conduct: Conduct of the cadet plays an important part in determining the grade received in JROTC. It is possible for a cadet to fail any ROTC class as a result of poor conduct.
Please return this form as soon as possible. Failure to sign this letter and/or complete forms and return them to WBHS Army JROTC will not be used as justification to violate the above rules.
