Welcome Westside Families,

It is an honor to be the Principal of Westside Middle School.  I am a Barrow County resident who has served the Barrow County School System in several capacities ranging from a science teacher at Winder-Barrow High School to the Assistant Principal at Bear Creek Middle School.  Overall, I have been in education for twenty-five years with seventeen of those years being in the middle school setting.

My vision for Westside centers around three basic principles.  These principles are as follows:

  • We will provide a safe and secure learning environment.
  • We will treat all students with fairness and respect.
  • We will provide our students with instruction that is engaging and rigorous.

At Westside, we wish to serve as an extended family to our students so that their experiences at our school are supportive of their development towards becoming productive citizens in our community.  I look forward to working with all of our stakeholders which includes students, parents and the community we serve as we strive for a successful 2018-19 school year.

Assistant Principal's Welcome:

Welcome to Westside Middle School!  My name is Judy Hollandsworth, and it is my honor to serve as the assistant principal at WMS.  Having been in education for 18 years, I have had the opportunity to serve as a middle school teacher, high school teacher, team leader, instructional coach and high school administrator.  I believe the greatest responsibility of any educator is to develop positive, trusting relationships with students and families while creating engaging and rigorous classroom environments.  At Westside, we will continuously strive to provide students with necessary experiences to help them grow socially, emotionally, and academically.

The partnership between our school and community stakeholders certainly plays a vital role in the success of our students.  I welcome parent and community involvement in the educational process.  We are here to serve you!  Let’s work together to give our students the best middle school experience possible.  Please feel free to contact me as I am looking forward to meeting each of you.   Remember, We Excel and Succeed Together!
