If you are curious to know detailed information on the skills and content-specific concepts taught in each academic course, please visit the Georgia Department of Education’s page devoted to the Georgia Milestones Achievement Level Descriptors (ALD’s). These ALD’s “show a progression of knowledge and skills for which students must demonstrate competency across the achievement levels.”
Here, you will find Milestones End-of-Grade (EOG) ALD’s for every grade-level content area taught at Westside Middle School, including our two high school End-of-Course (EOC) ALD’s for Algebra I and Physical Science.
*Disclaimer: Science is currently undergoing a standards revision process as they change over from Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) to the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). 6th and 7th grade science classes are using both the GPS and the GSE in their classrooms. There are no ALD’s for these new courses. We hope to have that information from the state in a timely manner.

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO):
The Westside Middle School PTO Executive Board is so excited about the 2014-2015 school year. We have already experienced more parent volunteers than ever and we have LOTS more volunteer opportunities planned for this year.
In case you are wondering what kind of things our PTO does, here’s a sample:
- Concessions at all HOWL TIMES (positive behavior activity)
- Teacher Breakfast during Pre-Planning
- Spirit Wear Sales
- Mentor Opportunities
- Snacks for Chorus Concert
We have many more events planned for this year. We just need YOU to join us. We are striving to “connect the dots” this year and create a community here at Westside. It truly takes teachers, parents, administrators, and community involvement to make our students’ time here at Westside a success. We often think that once our children are in middle school, that we are no longer needed. This could not be further from the truth. We encourage you to get involved and engaged at Westside. You will be so happy that you did!
If you have any ideas, suggestions, or questions, please send them to: firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to seeing you here soon!
