Dear Parents and Students,
Parents, Thank you so much for your support of Westside Middle School during the first half of our school year! Your attendance at our awards’ presentations, Title I Parent Meetings,
PTO, Chorus and Band Concerts, and morning coffee and donuts meetings is truly appreciated. We know how busy you are and appreciate that you take time to be involved in your child’s school. Please know that we
always welcome your presence in our school, as well as your suggestions and ideas.
Students are working very hard in their classes and preparing for the CRCT. Eighth grade students just completed their Middle Grades Writing Assessment. Writing and preparation for
the Mock MGWA and the real MGWA have been ongoing all year, with an additional focus these last few weeks. Eighth grade students received a day-long writing workshop to review and prepare for their Middle Grades
Writing Assessment. Eighth grade students were encouraged to achieve at the “Excels” level and have an opportunity to “pie” Mrs. Rolader in the face! Look for your student’s test scores
near the end of February or first of March. Sixth and seventh grade students just completed a mock writing assessment that followed the same format as the eighth grade assessment.
Our spring student-led conferences will be held on March 19th and 20th. All students are writing their academic goals for the second semester in their Pack Times,
gathering work samples, and preparing their scripts to share with their parents. We look forward to seeing each parent during our spring conferences.
Many parent opportunities are available in the near future. Please visit our website daily to see posted dates and activities. See the bulleted items below for future parent opportunities.
