Barrow County Emergency Services, Barrow County Sheriff Office, Barrow County Schools, Teens in the Drivers Seat, and Family, Careers and Community Leaders of America are teaming up for the Prom Pledge Week at Apalachee High School. During the week of May 9-13 junior and senior students will be asked to sign the pledge saying they will not drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
On May 13th the students will have an opportunity to see what a horrific accident scene can look like. Members from the Sheriff's Office, Emergency Services and even a medical helicopter will participate in a mock "accident" scene at Apalachee. There will be actors also participating as accident victims, family members and others.
We encourage all parents to talk with their children about the dangers of driving under the influence. The results can be life altering for many many people, including innocent people. Don't forget to ask your Apalachee student if they have signed the pledge.
