Ysheena Lyles was born and raised in Barrow County and is a proud graduate of Winder Barrow High School. After being a GG Dogg, she went on to become a Blazer and pursue a degree in Marketing and Public Relations from Valdosta State University. Ms. Lyles also holds two master degrees, a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) from Valdosta State University and Masters of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T) from Piedmont College.
After working in the private sector, she found her calling in education where she began her teaching career at Winder Barrow Middle School. She moved on to teach at Bear Creek Middle School where she served as the girls basketball and track coach while performing other leadership positions. She was a pilot teacher for ArtsNow and went on to become a leader teacher at CFIT (Center for Innovative Teaching) within the A.I.M program, Barrow Arts and Innovation Magnet program. Ms. Lyles has also been a teacher leader in the Barrow County School system for 3 years, a Teacher of the Year system finalist, and a published author in the National English magazine, Voices in Middle. She is well versed in Instructional Conversations which provided her with the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica. She prides herself on teaching culturally responsive lessons and writing strategies that are engaging and effective. Her passion and methods for teaching have provided her with opportunities to present at various educational conferences and work with various school districts with professional learning.
Ysheena Lyles continues to live in Barrow County along with her amazing son where she is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club and Barrow County Leisure Services. Ms. Lyles plans to pursue a degree in Educational Leadership in the fall.
