Laura Watts

Assistant Principal

Laura Watts grew up in the Florida Panhandle (Crestview). She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education at the University of Florida (GO GATORS!). She moved to Georgia in 1996 and taught for 19 years in Gwinnett County. During that time, she received a Master of Special Education from Brenau University.  She is currently at UWG obtaining her Specialist degree in Educational Leadership.

She has a husband of 21 years (Aaron) and two boys: Grayson, 18, who graduated from Apalachee High School in 2019 and Easton, 16, who attends BASA.

She and her family moved from Gwinnett to a 7-acre farm in Winder, GA where they raise pigs, chickens and are beekeepers. She transferred teaching from Gwinnett County to Barrow County due to Barrow’s strong emphasis on community and family. Ms. Watts previously taught Special Education at Winder Barrow High School, was the CTI Coordinator at Sims Academy and is now proud and excited to be the Assistant Principal of the Innovation Campus (BASA and Sims).
