If you're sick, please stay home!

When you're sick, please stay home

As students return to school campuses for in-person learning, we ask that students and staff stay home if they are sick or waiting on results of a COVID-19 test.

Check daily for any of the following symptoms before you get on the bus or come into the school building:

  • Fever (of 100.4 or higher) or chills
  • New cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Headache
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

If a child has any of these symptoms, they should stay home from school and all extracurricular activities. Parents should call the child's healthcare provider.

> You can read the guidance provided by the Department of Public Health for returning to school.

Conducting regular screening for symptoms and ongoing self-monitoring throughout each school day can help reduce exposure to COVID-19. If a student develops symptoms throughout the day, they must notify an adult immediately.

The most critical tool in preventing the spread of COVID-19 is for any student that is sick or has been exposed to someone confirmed to have COVID-19 to stay home. If you are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test, do not come to school.

Please also keep in mind that children will still get sick with illnesses that are not COVID-19. To err on the side of caution, additional safety measures will be taken regarding all health issues. All students who are out sick with a fever will be required to be fever-free for 24-hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine.

By sending your child to school, you are attesting that your child is healthy, has been fever-free for 24-hours, and has met the requirements in the Return to School Guidance (Spanish).
