Audio, Video, Technology, & Film Instructor

Mr. Wingfield was born in Barrow County.  Prior to graduating early from Winder Barrow High School, he enlisted into the Navy Nuclear Submarine Force at age 17.   After 25 years of honorable service to our Country in 2010 (19 missions/22 deployments), he began teaching Computer Science in Barrow County at Bethlehem Elementary School.  Mr. Wingfield saw the need to continue to serve the community, so he was Commissioned in the Navy Ready Reserve from 2010 to 2015.  During his time with the Barrow County School System he implemented and started three after school clubs, volunteered for many extracurricular activities and mentored Barrow County students.  Medals and Awards include:  Honorable Letters Signed by three former Presidents, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Award, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal.  Sailor of the Year (3 awards) and 2017 Barrow County Staff Employee of the Year.


In 2010 William was hired to serve as the Audio/Video Production Manager for a local church in the community.  In addition he has spearheaded and produced over 20 productions for the Greater Northwestern Baptist Association of Georgia.   Through his business “Wingfield Electronics”  William has provided computers for underprivileged children, provide “Movie Nights Under the Stars” for local schools and churches, and assisted “The Brotherhood Inc.” in giving out local scholarships to our Barrow County graduates.


He received a BS in Project Management/Information Technology, an Apprenticeship in Computer Science and is a graduate of Navy Leadership School in Annapolis, Maryland.  Through the Troops to Teachers Program Mr. Wingfield is a certified teacher in Audio/Video Technology & Film.  Completed AVTF Teacher & Avid Teacher Production Certification Programs with Georgia Film Academy.  Qualified in Nuclear Submarines and Navy Diver.


Organizations include:   Greater Northwestern Baptist Association, Georgia Association of Educators,  Troops to Teachers Program of Georgia, Brotherhood Club, Inc. and Disable Veterans of America.


William is married to Contrena Denise (Smith) Wingfield of Monroe, Georgia.  They have been blessed with four children:  Quilenthia, Toree, William Jr. and Armani.
