Dr. Chris McMichael
Chris McMichael is the son of two college English professors and was raised to value education as one of the most important things in life. Dr. McMichael earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from The University of Georgia (2004), a Master of Arts in Art Education from North Georgia College and State University (1997), a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from North Georgia College and State University (1994), and an Associate of Arts from Gainesville State College (1986). He also holds a certificate in School Design and Planning from the University of Georgia.
Dr. McMichael is currently serving in his 25th year as an educator in both public and private schools, with 20 of those years in leadership positions. His career includes positions as district-level Executive Director for Teaching and Learning and Support Services, elementary school principal, elementary, middle and high school assistant principal, and middle and high school teacher. Dr. McMichael has been employed by the Barrow County School System since April of 2009 and has served as the Superintendent for the Barrow County Board of Education since April of 2014.
Chris and his wife Beth have four children, Allan, Christianna, Anabelle, and Chloe. He enjoys reading, movies, live music, camping, creating art, and spending time with his family.
