All Barrow County School System (BCSS) Pre-K classes/slots are pending state budget/funding and approval of the BCSS Pre-K Grant Agreement by
Bright from the Start, Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning.
The BCSS Georgia Pre-K Program will be located at the eight elementary
schools and will follow the Barrow County School System Pre-K calendar. Pre-K hours are the same as the elementary school hours, 7:45am to
2:30pm. Bus transportation will be available along with breakfast and lunch. The BCSS Pre-K classes teach the Bright from the Start Pre-K Contents Standards and use the
HighScope curriculum as a framework. You may also go to www.decal.ga.gov for more

More information concerning the length of the Pre-K school year will be available once the
state budget is approved and our Pre-K plans are finalized.
The Barrow County School System currently has two Pre-K classrooms at AES, BES, CLES,
HES, KES, SES & YES and one Pre-K class at BRES for a total of 15 Pre-K classes. All Pre
-K students must attend a Pre-K class within their elementary school attendance zone.
The first 22 students drawn in the lottery from each elementary school attendance zone
will be in Pre-K Class A for that school attendance zone. The next 22 students drawn will
be in Pre-K Class B for that school attendance zone except for BRES where there is only
one Pre-K class. Enrollment is limited to twenty-two students per class. Any openings
that become available in the 15 elementary Pre-K classes will be filled using the waiting list
from that school attendance zone. The Pre-K Coordinator will keep documentation of the progression of the waiting lists.
