June 1st marked 61 days of summer left until the next school year starts. That means it is time to start (if we have not already) our Summer reading contest. This summer we are doing the Dragon 500!
We are asking our students to complete 500 minutes of reading this summer. That is actually only 8 minutes a day for the rest of the summer so it should be very easy. Reading could be independently, read together, or have it read to or audio books.
- Every student who reaches the 500-minute mark will earn the Kennedy 500 button.
- If you reach 1000 minutes (16 minutes a day) you receive a Kennedy 1000 button and $5 gift certificate to our book fair in September.
- If you reach 1500 minutes (24 minutes a day) you receive a Kennedy 1500 button and $10 gift certificate to our book fair in September.
- If you reach 2000 minutes (32 minutes a day) you receive a Kennedy 2000 button and $10 gift certificate to our book fair in September, PLUS the Kennedy 2000 Summer Reading T-shirt!
