5th grade takes on the zoo!

5th grade students at the zoo

Winder Elementary School 5th grade students had the opportunity to visit Zoo Atlanta as a culmination of their Science unit on animal classification. As a part of our trip, students walked through the zoo with their chaperones and identified animal families that they classified as vertebrates or invertebrates. In addition, students learned about which animals were at risk or critically endangered of becoming extinct in the near future. While learning was a big part of the trip, the camaraderie and fellowship with students, teachers, and chaperones was just what our grade level needed post pandemic. From the comments from students, teachers, and chaperones alike, we all agree that our zoo trip was a great success! Thanks to all school front office, support staff, lunch staff, and chaperones who helped make our trip possible.
