RMS Virtual Honors Week 2019-2020

Come back here each day during the week of May 11-15 to see more students recognized!

Hello, everyone and welcome to the Russell Middle School Virtual Honors Week!  Each day this week, we will be highlighting student accomplishments throughout the 2019-2020 school year.  This is in place of our annual Honors Night ceremony. A new video will be uploaded here each day to showcase our award recipients and recognitions for the day. These awards and recognitions are “above the rest” and are considered as high honors in our school.  Congratulations to all of the students recognized this week! We are so proud of you!

Welcome back to our final day of the RMS Virtual Honors Week! Today’s video features 8th Grade students and their accomplishments.

REACH Georgia is a mentorship and scholarship program that provides scholars with the academic, social, and financial support needed to graduate from high school, gain access to college and achieve post-secondary success.  Upon completion of the program, qualifying students earn a $10,000 scholarship towards their educational costs.  Students must meet several criteria for eligibility as well as complete an extensive application and interview process.  Once chosen, the REACH scholar must maintain participation in the program throughout 8th grade and four years of high school.  We are so proud of our RMS REACH Scholar - Jayelan Ausby.  We know you will continue to do great things!

The Woodmen of the World give an annual award to an outstanding civics and government student.  This year’s recipient of the Woodmen of the World award goes to Lacey Guthrie.  Way to go, Lacey!

The Sunbury Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution also presents an award to the 8th grader who exhibits the qualities of honor, courage, leadership, patriotism, and service.  We are pleased to announce this year’s award goes to Ethan Yang.  Congratulations, Ethan!

To conclude today’s video, members of the RMS Faculty and Staff will recognize the 8th grade students who demonstrate citizenship and Dogpack PRIDE.

Thank you for joining us this week!  While we wished we could have been celebrating in person, we are still very proud of your hard work, dedication, and Dogpack PRIDE.  Have a great summer! YOU ALL MATTER...every single one! This is Mr. Maynard...signing off.
