Principal's Welcome:

Welcome DogPack Community!

I am overwhelmed with joy to serve as the principal here at Russell Middle School. This school year marks my eighteenth year of service in education. My career began at Yargo Elementary where I was in the role of a classroom teacher. I then transitioned to the Bethlehem Elementary community where I served as the instructional coach for three years and the assistant principal for five years. I then transitioned to the middle school level where I worked alongside the wonderful staff, students, and community of Russell Middle School in the assistant principal role. I served as AP at RMS for one year, and this is my fourth year serving as principal here at Russell. All experiences have afforded me the opportunity to collaborate with exceptional students, families, staff, and the community of the Barrow County School System.

As a proud graduate of Barrow County Schools, I am ecstatic to continue to work with the students, parents, staff, and community of Barrow County. These middle school years are full of opportunity and change. Therefore, we commit to work to provide the most meaningful academic, social, and life-long learning experiences for your children. We are a Role Model School with a Role Model Staff and Role Model Students.

I look forward to getting to know you and want to support you in any way I can. I am eager to witness your children grow, succeed, and connect with the RMS family throughout these years in middle school. I am a firm believer in KIDS and will strive to make decisions based on every child’s best interest. Let’s team up together to make this the best year yet!

Assistant Principal's Welcome:

It is with great excitement that I welcome students and parents to our 22-23 school year here at RMS. As a school, we have faced challenges every year and we will continue to do so, meeting those challenges with a firm belief in our students to be the best Role Model Students that they can be. As I begin my 33rd year as a member of the Dogpack, I look forward to continuing in the classroom, working with our 8th grade Honors Algebra students. Families, continue to be Barrow Bold, involving yourselves in your student’s education. Contact the teachers of your student, question your student about what they did and ask for details about what they talked about in class that day. We have several innovative teaching practices occurring daily throughout our building. At RMS, we are Boldly Committed to Student Success and want all our parent, guardians and students to be part of that commitment.

Assistant Principal's Welcome:

I am very excited to be a member of Russell Middle School’s proud DogPack! I am so thrilled to continue to get to know the students, parents, and staff at RMS! The team spirit and love for the students is a culture at Russell that is humbling to be a part of. RMS contributes greatly to the Barrow Bold reputation that defines Barrow County Schools.

My entire teaching career background is in middle school! Middle school students are such a joy to be around as they develop into teens. I spent 26 years in the classroom teaching math, science, and social studies. During this time, I also served as team leader for many years, on the PBIS team, STEM/Gifted team, Safety team, Milestones testing team, as a content team leader, and a science department co-chair.  For the last 15 years I also served as the award winning After School Academic Program (ASAP) 21st Century Site Coordinator for Indian Creek Middle School.

It is with great excitement that I join RMS to share my knowledge and experiences as I also learn from the staff and administration at RMS! Please feel free to contact me at any time and let me know how I can assist you with the education of your student! The 2022-2023  school year is destined to be one of the best yet! Everyone at RMS has the interest of the students first. Together, RMS is a Role Model School with a Role Model staff and Role Model Students!
