Debbie Darling

I began my career at Russell Middle School as a 7th grade science and math teacher. I also worked at Westside Middle School and Bramlett Elementary School. Early in my career, I was a coach as well. I was honored to be the Barrow County Teacher of the Year in 2001. I took 7 years off to take care of my children. Our plan of 2-3 years turned into 7 as I worked hand in hand with my son, Max, who has hearing loss. I have worked at Jefferson Academy (Jefferson City) and Gum Springs Elementary (Jackson County) as an EIP and classroom teacher. In 2018, I was blessed to be named the Jackson County Teacher of the Year.

During my teaching career, I've been an EIP teacher, classroom teacher, ESOL teacher, and interventionist. I was an Instructional Coach at South Jackson Elementary School where I worked under two amazing administrators, Resa Brooksher and Donna Wilson, who encouraged me to pursue leadership. Last year, I made the decision to come home to RMS where I have served as an ESOL teacher.

I am back home at RMS, and I am excited to join an already amazing group of leaders. I love our staff and our students, and I am eager to serve them! I have big shoes to fill as Mrs. Seeley is RMS! I know that my years in the classroom will serve me well as I serve our community. Our staff and students are the heart of RMS, and I am blessed and humbled to work with them each day. While our teachers are truly amazing, I hope I can help them to reach their goals and grow right along with them. I also look forward to helping all of our students reach their true potential! Middle school years can be tough, and I trust that together we have the perfect staff to help our students thrive.

My husband, David, is also an educator, and teaches at the Alternative School. I am a mom to three amazing boys, Sam, Max, and Luke. All of the Darlings are my world! I love all things sports related and am a passionate baseball fan!
