Pre-K Lottery Application Now Open

Pre-K Lottery Applications accepted March 2nd to 31st weekdays 8am to 4pm

Applications for the Barrow County School System 2020-2021 Georgia Pre-K Program will be accepted March 2nd through March 31st on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Professional Development Center at 179 West Athens Street in Winder.

Children must be 4 on or before September 1, 2020 to apply for the 2020-2021 Pre-K Program. Children who are 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2020 and have not attended Georgia’s Pre-K Program as a 4-year-old may also enroll in the BCSS Pre-K program.

To apply for the Pre-K Lottery, parents will be required to show current proof of residency (such as a utility bill) to verify their elementary school attendance zone. Parents will also need to bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate to verify the child’s birthday/age.

The Pre-K Lottery application must be turned in to the Professional Development Center by the end of the day on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. Any applications received after March 31, 2020, will be placed on the waiting list and were not eligible to participate in the lottery. Completion of an application does not guarantee that a child will be enrolled, but instead places the child on the list for the BCSS Pre-K Lottery for 2020-2021.

On April 17, 2020, nine separate lottery drawings will be held to determine the class lists and waiting lists for each elementary school. The lottery consists of random drawings from all applicants within that elementary school attendance zone. These drawings are open to the public and will be held at the BCSS Professional Development Center. If a student's name is drawn in the lottery, the family will receive a letter in the mail explaining the next steps.
