Title I Information
Title I is a federal program that provides funds to schools and districts based upon the percentage of students qualifying to receive free or reduced price (school) meals. The purpose is to ensure that all children have access to quality instruction and resources that will enable them to meet state academic standards.
Yargo Elementary is eligible for these federal funds. Funds are used to provide students with additional segments of reading and/or math instruction by a certified, highly qualified teacher and/or paraprofessional. Funds can be used to purchase support materials in reading and/or math. Also, funds are used to promote parental involvement through an active parent involvement program at the school and system level.
Increasing parent involvement is a goal of the Title I program. The purpose of parental involvement, under Title I, is to promote active engagement among local school officials and staff, education leaders, technical assistance providers, parents, parent advocacy organizations, parental involvement coordinator/liaisons, and others working to improve student achievement and learning.
