Dione Massey

Media Specialist

My name is Dione Massey and I am your Media Specialist here at Yargo. My teaching journey began 27 years ago. I was a classroom teacher (for grades 2, 3 and 4) before moving into the library. I hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Education Specialist degree in Teaching and Learning. This year is my 20th year as a Media Specialist…17th at Yargo. This place is my 2nd home and a huge part of my heart!

READING is my passion! Grabbing a book can take me on an adventure or help me learn something new! Self-selection is part of that process. Each day I have the opportunity to help children find “somewhere to go” or “something to learn” simply by opening the library doors and offering them a chance to browse the shelves! Being a “specials’ teacher” ensures that all of the children visit the library each week. These visits allow me to share my love of reading, while teaching general book and research skills.  I have an awesome job indeed!

I am married to Sam and have two grown children named Madi and Drew. There are two yippy dogs (Mina and Sophie) in our house, and while they are ornery, we love them dearly! I enjoy traveling far and wide, binge watching criminal mysteries and being with family and friends!
