Apalachee High School would like to recognize Neely Rogan as our Chamber of Commerce Senior of the Month for December 2023. Neely is an exceptional student, with a cumulative GPA of 102 placing her fifth in a class of 379. That lofty GPA was attained while taking 11 Advanced Placement classes along with 10 Honors/Gifted classes. Neely has been recognized as an AP Scholar, 2022 AHS AP World History student of the Year, 2023 AHS Honors Literature student of the Year, Placed 2nd in the Region Literary Competition and has served as a member of the AHS School Governance Team.
Besides being absolutely brilliant, Neely has been an integral member of the Apalachee Track and Field Team all four years of her high school career. Neely is the school record holder in the Discus and Shot Put. Neely has reached the podium at the State Track and Field Meet every year of her high school career. She placed 3rd in the state in the Discus in 2021 and 2022. She placed 2nd in the state in the Discus in 2023. She also placed 4th in the state in the Shot Put in 2023.
Neely’s Apalachee Throwing Coach, Mr. Jim Yike, states that “Neely is the most decorated thrower, going into her senior year, that I have ever worked with in my coaching career. Three finishes in the top 3 at state with a runner up finish at state in the discus last year and a 4th place finish in the shot as the highest ranking she has achieved in both...so far. At the end of her junior year, she had been on the podium at state 5 times and never below 4th place. Her dedication to her craft is remarkable and her game day approach has won her many admirers. She is a role model, both inside and outside the classroom, and her legacy will continue here long after she is gone.”
Neely’s World History Teacher and advisory, Mr. Omeed Behzadi, states “As Neely's advisor I have seen how hard she works both in the classroom and athletically. But in my opinion the most special thing about her is how strong of a friend and classmate she is to all. Her empathy towards others and her concern for her fellow classmates makes her a one of a kind individual who makes being a part of the Apalachee Wildcat nation something to be proud about.

Joining our lists of Division I athletes, Neely will be attending Liberty University next fall on a Track and Field scholarship, where she will study to answer her calling to the pulpit.
