On Saturday, October 21, the Marching Cats traveled to Flowery Branch High School to compete in The Branch Classic marching band competition. The students had an amazing experience and represented themselves and the Chee Nation in a fantastic manner. The band members worked hard and fought through much adversity this season and received great recognition for their efforts. The honors are as follows:
- Band, color guard, percussion Superior ratings in class 4A.
- 1st Runner Up to Grand Champion
- 2nd Place in the Gold Division
- 1st Place in Class 4A - Band and Color Guard
- 2nd Place in Class 4A - Percussion
Beyond the ratings and awards, the most wonderful moment of the evening was seeing the pride and joy of the students following their performance prior to any awards being announced. The kids are learning to value their own hard work and to not seek validation from other sources … a lesson I hope they take far in life.
