Language Arts

I have been at Apalachee High School for over a decade. Attending the University of Georgia, I earned my Bachelor's of Science in English Education (2007). While working at AHS, I completed a Master's Degree in English Education (2009) and finished completing a doctorate in Language and Literacy Education at the University of Georgia (2018). I recently became a certified Cryptozoologist via the Centre of Excellence (2020).

In addition to teaching, I enjoy walking a rescue dog, Bodhi, digital photography, playing music, hiking, backpacking, fishing, reading and writing at coffee shops, and staying up-to-date with movies, television, and documentaries. Popular culture and how it intersects with multiliteracies are my bread and butter!

I spent enough time before, during, and after my formal education in restaurants and maintain a passion for cooking (especially using a Big Green Egg and by picking up shifts at a local BBQ restaurant). Beyond that I'm working to see how healthy (and "unhealthy") food habits impact my exercise, mental health, and running times. I enjoy competing against myself to see how many personal records I can set.

Apart from my hobbies and job, I always look forward to engaging in dialogue with my fellow humans in order to better the level of open-mindedness in our community, state, nation, and world.

Thanks,

Dr. S. J. Landry, Ph.D.
