Principal - Apalachee High School

Chee Community:

I am thrilled to start my second year as principal at Apalachee High School, especially to celebrate our 25th year as a school! My educational journey began here as a student teacher in 2004, and it has been an honor to watch the school grow and mature from its infancy into a special place with 2nd generation students and alumni as staff. While we have a lot to celebrate this year, we also have a lot to teach, learn, and support. Because Chee students are top-notch, our goal will be to find ways to challenge and engage each one, and my hope is for all students to find belonging, community, and success.

My vision is for Apalachee High School to be a destination for and community of collaborative champions. My eleven years as a teacher at Apalachee are unmatched. During my teaching career, I instructed several English courses, sponsored Student Council, advised the Yearbook staff, and fulfilled other teacher-leader duties. From 2016-2019, I served as Assistant Principal of Instruction at Jackson County High School. Then, in 2019, I returned to Barrow County to serve as Assistant Principal at Winder-Barrow High School. The 2024-2025 school year will be my 20th year as an educator, my 17th in Barrow County, and again, our 25th year as a school! I am so happy to work alongside the absolute best students and staff anywhere!

I work directly with Northeast Georgia RESA and the National Association of Secondary School Principals and understand the importance of supporting each teacher along their professional journey. To fully engage and connect to the curriculum, our students deserve daily preparedness, bell-to-bell instruction, and lessons based on the most recent research and technology. Our focus this year will be creating and facilitating practice plans to ensure each student is “game ready” to academically perform and achieve at high levels.

Apalachee is a quarter century in age and has secured its unique identity and place on the map, and this year, we will find even greater success, add more traditions, and celebrate all stakeholders. I look forward to seeing students excel in our classrooms; on our fields, courts, and stages; at Region, State, and National competitions; and throughout our supportive community. Chee Nation, it’s going to be a great year. It’s Game On!

Go Wildcats!

More about me:

I am originally from Thomasville, Georgia. I love traveling, especially to the beach or to visit my cool trio of nephews. I am a huge UGA football fan and plan to see the three-peat National Championship this coming season. When I’m not at school, you’ll find me working out, at a cool new restaurant, or with a book or camera in my hand.
