Staff Sergeant Brian K. Cavanaugh currently serves as an Army Instructor for Apalachee High School JROTC Wildcat Battalion. He was born in Riverdale, GA and is the middle of five Children. After High School he immediately went into the US Army as a Fuel and Electrical Systems Repairer, then as a Light Wheeled Vehicle Repairer. SSG Cavanaugh has served as a Ground Maintenance Management NCO, Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Motor Sergeant, Squad Leader, and Team Leader throughout his 20 years of Active Service.

SSG Cavanaugh has completed Ranger School, Ranger Assessment and Selection Program, Airborne School, Air Assault Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-commissioned Officer Course, Advanced Non-commissioned Officer Course, Master Resilience Course, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training Course, and Sexual Harassment and Assault Prevention Course.

SSG Cavanaugh's awards include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (11), Army Achievement Medal (13), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Medal, NATO (Kosovo) Medal, Ranger Tab, Senior Airborne Wings, and Air Assault Wings.

SSG Cavanaugh is married with two sons.
