7Mindsets Models of the Month - September

Congratulations to our 7Mindsets Models of the Month for September 2021!  These Blazers have really been shining on our campus this month.

Reilly

Reilly was nominated by Ms. Weiss for these mindsets: We are Connected, Live to Give, and 100% accountable.

Here's what Ms. Weiss had to say about Reilly: Students left a mess on the table next to Reilly at lunch, when I went to clean it he saw me cleaning it up and told me that he would take care of it.  Very kind boy!

Drew

Drew was nominated by Ms. Nissenbaum for this mindset: Passion First.

Here's what Ms. Nissenbaum had to say about Drew: Drew always participates in crew, and recently he revealed that something he does for free is playing drums for his church. He is so passionate about music!

Troy

Troy was nominated by Ms. Schreibman for these mindsets: 100% Accountable and The Time is Now.

Here's what Ms. Schreibman had to say about Troy: Troy is 100% accountable for his school work and his parts in band class.  He is always asking if he played something correctly or did something correctly because he wants his work to not only be graded correctly, but also that he understands the concepts.  Unlike other students I have taught, he does not wait until the last minute to learn his music, but learns it quickly and spends his time perfecting it.

Eduardo

Eduardo was nominated by Mrs. Wilson for this mindset: Everything is Possible.

Here's what Mrs. Wilson had to say about Eduardo: Eduardo is amazing.  He came to the US from El Salvador less than three years ago speaking very little English.  Eduardo worked hard and thrived as a part of the Newcomer Academy, and now he is an 11th grader at BASA.  Eduardo embodies the "Everything Is Possible" mindset in every way.  He consistently displays optimism and positivity.  He works hard and makes the most of every opportunity given to him.  He seeks opportunities to learn and grow.  As his English is still developing, Eduardo is creative in the ways he approaches his learning, asking for help when he needs and seeking additional support and resources to help him be successful.  Eduardo has also joined the BASA Blazers soccer team this year and is successfully fundraising through Tshirt sales.  Lastly, and most noteworthy to me, Eduardo has a beautiful heart, kind spirit, and a desire to help others whenever he can.  Eduardo is always willing to help my current Newcomers and happy to help me with anything around the classroom.  Working with him each day is a privilege and a joy.  He inspires me to stay positive, work hard, and make the most of each day.  I'm incredibly proud of Eduardo, and I know all of his teachers would agree that his is a perfect example of "Everything is Possible."

Lex

Lex was nominated by Mrs. Eidson for this mindset: Everything is Possible.

Here's what Mrs. Eidson had to say about Lex: Lex is amazing at working around failure. She jokes about messing up, but when it comes to the practice of it, she is able to really take the failure and figure out how to make it work for her or how to take it in stride, tweak the problem, and make it better.

Joseph

Joseph was nominated by Mrs. Holden for these mindsets: Passion First and Everything is Possible.

Here's what Mrs. Holden had to say about Joseph: Joseph shows strong passion for his sport, golf. He believes he can succeed in anything he sets his mind to and does not let others opinions discourage him. He shows commitment, determination, and perseverance.

Ms. Bush

Ms. Bush was nominated by Ms. Hagy for these mindsets: Everything is Possible and Live to Give.

Here's what Ms. Hagy had to say about Ms. Bush: Ms. Bush is an amazing colleague who has a heart for helping all students be successful. She genuinely cares about her students and will go above and beyond to help them succeed. Ms. Bush also offers help sessions during lunch, afterschool and on select Saturdays for students who are struggling or behind. She has high expectations for all her students and holds them accountable for staying on track in all their classes.
