Media Center

Hours

The Research and Design Center is open from 7:15-3:30 every school day. We have a collection of over 5,000 print items, and access to a large digital collection that is free for students and teachers. The space has two collaboration rooms, multiple areas of flexible seating with seats for up to 65, and a maker space that also functions as a classroom for up to 32 students. The space is large, sunny, and open to a patio that overlooks the campus.

Printing

The Research and Design Center has a color printer and a black and white copier/scanner/fax machine. The color printer is available to students, and prints cost $ 0.25 per page. Black and white prints are $.05 each.

Maker Space Tools

The Maker Space is a constantly evolving space, and currently houses a Cricut Air 2, a sewing machine, a serger, a button maker, 8 colors of butcher paper, Perler beads, and a variety of recycled materials. These materials can be used for innovative reuse projects, or cross curricular engineering projects. The Maker Space also has scissors, glue, markers, colored pencils, a diecut machine for letters, and other tools for creating displays, presentations and projects.

Students

To reserve books, you can go on Destiny Discover to place holds. Discover can be found at: bit.ly/DISCOVERBASA. Your lunch number is your username and password.

Once you have logged in, you can search the catalog and place books on hold. After the books are on hold, you will receive an email notification letting you know when your books are ready for pickup. Pickup notifications typically come either the day of, or the day after a hold is placed, IF the books are available. Holds can be placed on books that are currently checked out, but the time frame to pick them up is much longer. You will receive an email when the books are ready.

Physical copies

To access the catalog, please read above for info on reserving books.

Digital resources

BASA has access to the University System of Georgia’s GALILEO databases. Access is automatic while on campus, and for off campus access, please contact your teachers for the password, which changes every semester.

BASA also has access to a large e-book catalog through Open EBook, and access information has been shared with every student, as well as during Crew.
