Before & After School Program

Welcome to the BCSS Before and After School Program! We are excited to have your child join us for a year filled with fun, learning, and new friendships. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where every child can thrive.

Program Overview

Our program is designed to support both children and families by providing a structured, engaging environment before and after regular school hours. We offer a variety of activities—including homework assistance, arts and crafts, sports, and games aimed at promoting your child’s social, emotional, and academic development. The program is open to students from Pre-K through 5th Grade.

Program Registration

To register your child for the program, please complete and submit the online registration form on the Before & After School Care page of your school’s website.

• Students will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis and in accordance with school guidelines.
• Parents/guardians will be notified of their child’s acceptance via the email address provided on the registration form.
• A $35.00 per child annual registration fee is required within 48 hours of the notification of acceptance.
  • A payment link to pay the registration fee will be included in the acceptance email.
  • If payment is not received within 48 hours, the spot will be offered to the next student on the waiting list.
• Once the program reaches capacity, any additional students will be placed on a waiting list.

Weekly Rates

Fees: Students enrolled in the BCSS Before & After School Program will be charged weekly, regardless of their attendance. If the program is open three or more days in a given week, the regular weekly rate will apply. If the program is open two days or fewer, the weekly rate will be prorated.

• Before School Care Fee $15.00/week
• After School Care Fee $80.00/week
• Before & After School Care Fee $95.00/week

Payment: Payment is due on Friday before scheduled services and must be paid prior to program participation.

Online Payment Only: Payments must be made online. Cash and checks will not be accepted.

Late Payment Fee: If payment is received after the due date, a $10.00 late fee will be added to the balance, and the total amount will be due immediately.

Late Pickup Fees: A late pickup fee of $5.00 per minute will be charged for each minute after 6:00 PM. This fee will be added to the following week’s balance and must be paid before the student participates in the program that week.

Account in Good Standing: Accounts must be current and in good standing. If an account becomes more than one week past due, the student will be removed from the program until the balance is paid.

2026-2027 Program Calendar & Hours of Operation

The Before & After School Program follows the BCSS school calendar and will be closed when Barrow County Schools are closed.

• In the event of an unexpected closure due to an emergency or inclement weather, the program will also be closed.
• If Barrow County Schools dismiss early due to an emergency or inclement weather, student dismissal will follow the instructions provided on the Emergency Instructions Form.

Start Date: Monday, August 3, 2026

End Date: The program will end on May 20, 2027. 

CLOSED:

• Friday, July 31 (1^st Day of School)
• Friday, December 18 (Early Release Day)
• Friday, May 21 (Last Day of School)

2026-2027 Hours of Operation

The program will operate during the hours outlined below

• Parents may drop off/pick up enrolled students at any time within this window.
• Late drop-off or early pick-up does not impact the weekly rate for enrolled students.

Before School Care Hours: 6:30 AM until the start of the school day (7:00 AM)

After School Care Hours: Dismissal (2:00 PM) until 6:00 PM

Procedures for Late Pickups: Students should be picked up from After School Care no later than 6:00 PM.

• Program staff will attempt to contact the parent/legal guardian if a student is not picked up by 6:00 PM.
• If the parent/legal guardian cannot be reached, staff will contact the emergency contacts listed on the enrollment form.
• If the student has not been picked up by 6:30 PM, the principal and local law enforcement will be notified.
• A late pickup fee will be assessed (see the late payments fees section for details).
• Students who are picked up late more than three times will be dismissed from the program.

Behavior Expectations for Before & After School Program Students

The BCSS Before & After School Program follows established student behavior policies.

• Failure to adhere to behavior guidelines may result in disciplinary action, including immediate dismissal from the program at the discretion of administration. 
• Discipline infractions will be documented and communicated to parents/guardians in writing.

Students who receive more than three written warnings for behavior infractions will be dismissed from the program.

Additional Information:

Location: The program will be held at the school, typically in the cafeteria or gymnasium.

Meals/Snacks: 

• Students in the Before School Care Program will be offered breakfast beginning at 7:00 AM.
• Students in the After School Care Program will be offered a snack each afternoon

Drop off/Pick-Up: 

Please use the main entrance for all drop-off and pick-up.

• Parents/guardians must sign their child in and out each day.
• Only individuals listed on the enrollment form are authorized to pick up students from After School Care. A valid, government-issued ID must be presented to verify identity.

Student Safety and Health: 

The BCSS Before & After School Program adheres to district guidelines related to student health and safety.

• At the time of enrollment, please inform the program of any existing health concerns (such as allergies, diabetes, seizures, the need for medication during program hours, or any other health-related condition).
• When appropriate, an action plan must be submitted to the program. Forms are available on the BCSS website.
• If a new health concern arises during the school year, please notify the program director in writing.
