An optional informational meeting for all students interested in 2023-2024 enrollment took place on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at 6 pm in the BASA cafeteria.

Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy (BASA) offers students a learning community where everyone feels valued, empowered, and supported. Learners have many opportunities to explore their passions and interests. We take pride in providing relevant learning experiences designed to maximize engagement, achievement, and student voice.
The Barrow County School System Learner profile describes a broad range of student qualities and responsibilities tied to character development, academic success, and life beyond school. The Learner Profile lists the attributes all students are expected to possess by the time they graduate from a Barrow County high school.

To ensure that BASA students can showcase these characteristics and are college and career-ready, BASA faculty and staff will offer frequent opportunities for collaboration, research, and presentation. Students will have opportunities to serve their community, identify problems, and become part of a solution narrative.
All BASA students will be required to identify, pursue, and complete a chosen pathway. Through academic coursework and Expeditions (extended learning opportunities), students are expected to invest time in an area of aptitude or interest and produce authentic products. While academics take center stage, we also spend a great deal of time nurturing our students’ social and emotional well-being.
