BASA Engineering Students Build Rocket Book Nooks for ARES

Engineering students from Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy were thrilled to create unique book nooks for Austin Road Elementary.

ARES’ Media Specialist, Crystal Thornton, had the marvelous idea to reach out to BASA Engineering teacher Brandon Mitchell. The pair collaborated on the design of the book nook.

It was fitting to create a rocket themed book nook for the elementary students of Austin Road.

“Some of my third period engineering application students used traditional carpentry tools to make the rockets. The small group of students that volunteered to help were most excited about the project,” said Mitchell.

Each of the students were hands-on during the construction and delivery process.

Mr. Mitchell and his students made the delivery before the last day of school.

BASA students were excited about creating a fun and immersive reading experience for younger students at Austin Road.
