Mckendree Ramsell

2019-2020 will be McKendree Ramsell’s eleventh year teaching in Barrow County, and her fourteenth year teaching in the state of Georgia. Her teaching experience includes 5th grade, 6th grade advanced & accelerated math & science, 8th grade math & language arts, as well as 7th grade advanced/gifted math & advanced/gifted social studies. She taught in both Clarke and Gwinnett County prior to her move to Barrow. Russell Middle School was where Mrs. Ramsell taught for the first ten years of her teaching career in Barrow. She was chosen to serve as the Russell Middle School Teacher of the Year for the 18-19 school year. Currently, she is working in a new position as the 7th grade mathematics, science, and agri-science teacher in the Arts and Innovation Magnet Program (A.I.M), at the Center for Innovative Teaching (C.F.I.T). Mrs. Ramsell has been working with ArtsNow in the Arts Integration Pilot Program since 2017.

McKendree Ramsell is certified to teach every subject area; mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies. Both early childhood & middle grades' fields are included in her certification; grades pre-K through 8th, along with her gifted endorsement. She has 6 years of experience coaching football cheerleading, 5 years of experience coaching the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Team, and 2 years of experience leading Jr. Beta Club as a sponsor.

McKendree Ramsell’s undergraduate and master's degrees are both from the University of Georgia. Mentoring student teachers from UGA is a great way for her to give back to her alma mater, so she often has practicum students working alongside her in the classroom.

Mrs. Ramsell has lived in Winder for the past 13 years with her husband and two daughters. She is more enthusiastic than ever about the direction our school system is heading! She is “Barrow Bold” not only as an educator, but also as a parent. Her daughters have attended Barrow County Schools for their entire academic careers and she couldn’t be more proud to have them in such a student-centered & innovative school system.

Teaching truly is Mrs. Ramsell’s passion and she looks forward to every day that she’s given the opportunity to have a positive impact on the young citizens of her community.
