Students
Distance Learning Platform
The Academy is equipped to provide distance learning opportunities for students through the Georgia Virtual School and through our Google Classrooms for each course. Teachers have the ability to build flipped classrooms where instruction takes place on-line and the practice/hands-on activities are done in the labs or classrooms.
Entrepreneurship (S.E.E.D.)
The Sims Academy of Innovation and Technology will host the Sims Entrepreneurship and Excellence Development (S.E.E.D.) Program. The S.E.E.D. Program will support the creation of student businesses, some of which will earn the right to utilize one of two(2) student enterprise spaces in the main lobby of our facility.
The Program will teach students free-enterprise fundamentals including developing, presenting and implementing a workable business plan. While students are encouraged to develop plans for profitable businesses, they are also urged to consider what they're most passionate about and create a business idea out of that passion. All Sims students will learn about different types of businesses and the many aspects of running a business. However, the goal of the S.E.E.D. Program is to help take a students' interest in owning their own business to the next level.
Not only will this program help in the economic development of Barrow County, it will also create value to employers; our associates will leave Sims "thinking like an owner."
