CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Sims Academy students are able to build a strong foundation for their careers in law enforcement through our dual enrollment partnership with Lanier Technical College. In this program, highly qualified instructors from Lanier Technical College teach students in the Career and Technical Education programs available to students through Sims Academy. 

Individuals employed in this field serve and protect their communities and enforce laws. They help keep people safe from crime and danger. In addition to the career opportunities available in public safety, private security officers are also employed by many businesses.

Criminal Justice graduates go on to serve as corrections officers, police officers, and security guards. Corrections officers monitor inmates in prisons or jails. Police officers strive to keep law and order in their communities, including through proactive measures to prevent crimes before they happen. Security guards work for businesses or organizations to maintain safety and security on their property. With additional education, some graduates go on to pursue careers as paralegals, attorneys, or even judges.

This program prepares graduates to receive a Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) in Criminal Justice Specialist from Lanier Technical College, which qualifies them to work in this exciting field. These courses will also provide students with a jumpstart to their future diploma or degree-level studies.
