Mr. Albert Smith

Welcome Westside Families,

It is an honor to be the Principal of Westside Middle School.  I am a Barrow County resident who has served the Barrow County School System in several capacities ranging from a science teacher at Winder-Barrow High School to the Assistant Principal at Bear Creek Middle School.  Overall, I have been in education for twenty-seven years with nineteen of those years being in the middle school setting.

My vision for Westside centers around three basic principles.  These principles are as follows:

We will provide a safe and secure learning environment.

We will treat all students with fairness and respect.

We will provide our students with instruction that is engaging and rigorous.

At Westside, we wish to serve as an extended family to our students so that their experiences at our school are supportive of their development towards becoming productive citizens in our community.  I look forward to working with all of our stakeholders which includes students, parents and the community we serve as we strive for a successful 2020-21 school year.

Welcome to Westside Middle School!

After nine years in the classroom, I am honored by the opportunity to be your Assistant Principal and to work with the wonderful teachers, students, and community members that comprise the Westside family.

Middle School is an exciting time in the life of a child, and it is our goal to ensure that their learning environment is safe, secure, and rigorous as it prepares students for high school and beyond.

Additionally, it is my hope that all students will feel at home during their time at Westside, and that they take advantage of the many opportunities available for them to get involved in athletics and extracurriculars.
