CTAE Rocks!

CTAE Month 2021

Our Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) program offers students a solid foundation to pursue high-tech, high-demand careers. February is CTAE Month and our students and staff wanted to share what they love about the courses and Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO).

"In Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) classes, students are able to learn knowledge and skills that prepare them for future success in college and career. I encourage every student to review their YouScience results carefully, speak with their parents and counselor, and start working toward their future by enrolling in the CTAE programs at their home school and Sims Academy!" - Dr. Dale Simpson, Principal of the Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy and Sims Academy.

“I’m absolutely thankful for my CTAE advisor Ms.Garren and for everything she does to continually help expand the resources I have at my disposal. I have absolutely grown so much in terms of confidence when it comes to any of my engineering projects. I couldn’t be more thankful for the projects I’ve been able to create and for the profound help I’ve received over my high school years.”

“I am thankful for CTAE as it is teaching me important career skills, and it also gave me a place where I feel like I fit in. Through the agricultural part of CTAE, I am learning about different mechanical and electrical skills in Agricultural Mechanics that could help me in the future. I also feel like I fit in with every other Agriculture student I’ve met. CTAE gave me a group that I can join and have fun with. I love the CTAE program as it gives students an opportunity to try things they might have never tried otherwise.”

“I love CTAE because it’s so fun being able to take classes that help you figure out what career you want to choose and learning more about all the careers in that field. It is also a great way to become more prepared for college and to get used to what those beginner-level career classes are going to be like.”

Sustainable Agriculture/Culinary Pathway
Students successfully grew and harvested a pineapple in the school greenhouse during the fall 2020 semester. The fruits of their labor were definitely sweet! Students have also planted a variety of vegetables and herbs that are incorporated into their dishes throughout the semester.
