Dr. Kristie Knopp
Behavior Support Coordinator | PBIS District Coordinator
After work in Palm Beach and Gwinnett Public Schools, I landed in Barrow County in 2008 to continue my work as a Special Education Teacher. For the past 7 years, I have served at the district level as the Behavior Support Coordinator where I support administrators, teachers, and students with behavior management.
My passion is coaching others how to respond to individuals in behavior crisis through preventative and de-escalation strategies with PBIS – Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies. Preventative strategies include Mindset Preventative Strategies, along with Social Emotional Learning, Behavior Management, PBIS, Behavioral Intervention, and Behavior Modification.
Preventative strategies such as PBIS leads to a better climate and culture in school and county. Kids and teachers will feel safe. They will feel supported. And when that happens, they can focus on our reason for being at school – teaching and learning.
