Julie Schirmer

We are excited to welcome Julie to the Barrow County School System as the new Math Content Specialist for the district. Julie brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for mathematics education.

She joins us from Colham Ferry Elementary in the Oconee County School System, where she served in multiple leadership roles from 2019 to 2024, including:

• School Leadership Team Member
• Model Classroom Instructor

• Presenter for the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics

Prior to her time in Oconee County, Julie spent 10 years with Atlanta Public Schools and 5 years at Liberty Elementary in Illinois, building a strong foundation in instructional excellence and student achievement.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Julie relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 2008. She and her husband, both dedicated educators, are proud parents of two teenage sons. As a family, they enjoy running, boating on Lake Hartwell, and playing card games. In her personal time, Julie also loves reading and gardening.
