Information Technology Services
Information Technology Services (ITS) is organized into four distinct functional areas to support the Barrow County School District. Each area operates under the core guiding principal that it is ITS’ mission to ensure the availability and reliability of computing resources and data for students, faculty, and staff.

Technical support services include installation of new computing resources, repair of computing resources, and other front line “Help this doesn’t work!” needs. Trouble tickets are entered into the ticketing system by the school (see your school IT liaison for details) and automatically routed to the school’s designated support technician. ITS technicians visit their assigned schools every week to process service requests. Emergency service requests must be routed through the school principal, who can forward these as needed to the networking team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The networking team provides support and installation services for wired network data drops, wireless access points, and land line and cellular phone services. Requests for new installations should be routed through department heads or building administrative staff, and sent to email@example.com. Requests for troubleshooting existing facilities should be processed in the same manner as technical support trouble tickets, using the ticketing system for normal requests, and routing emergency requests through the school principal.
Innovation Support is a cross-team position bridging Teaching & Learning and ITS. Its roles include continuously researching and advising schools and the district on new technology, assisting schools on selecting the best technology to meet school-identified needs, assisting schools on making the best use of the technology schools have or purchase, and helping schools make the best use of Internet/cloud services such as Office 365 and Google Apps/Google Drive. Ultimately technology only serves our students if we are choosing the right technology and are using it optimally. Innovation Support is here to help you meet these goals!

This is a cross-area, cross-departmental team of ITS and Teaching and Learning staff who can help steer you towards the answers you need. If you have questions about a technical need but are uncertain as to which area is best suited to answer, send an email to the Tech Team. One or more of the team will be happy to assist you directly or steer you towards the specific department that can best assist you.
