Learning Options

Students will follow their education plan in-person or as an online learner. (There is a not a combination of the two.) Students must choose which option to attend at the beginning of the enrollment process.

Attend In-Person at Barrow Foothills

  1. Full-time enrollment -- no longer enrolled in your current high school
  2. Temporary enrollment for retaking previously failed courses -- you earn credits at Foothills but can transfer them back to your original high school

Attend Classes Online

  1. Full-time enrollment -- must be 16 years old; no longer enrolled in your current high school
  2. Temporary enrollment for retaking a previously failed course -- remain enrolled in current school

BCSS strongly encourages students to consider attending Foothills in person. While online may seem more convenient, success rates are much higher for students who attend in person.

Transfer Credit Community (For Retaking Previously Failed Courses)

  • Students complete all work online. You do not attend in-person.
  • Students have access to a teacher online for help. If you need individual support, teachers will set up a virtual conference room to chat with you via video.
  • Tests are proctored online.
  • To be enrolled in this option, you must have internet access and a laptop or Chromebook with video/audio capabilities. This is not provided by Foothills or BCSS.
  • Students are not assigned a mentor with this option.

Foothills Virtual Site (For Full-Time Enrollment)

  • Students must be 16 years old.
  • Students complete all work online. You do not attend in-person.
  • Students have access to a teacher online for help. If you need individual support, teachers will set up a virtual conference room to chat with you via video.
  • Tests are proctored online.
  • Laptops are provided through Foothills.
  • Students are mentored by Foothills staff to track and support their progress.
  • There is currently a waitlist for this option. Students have the option to attend Foothills in person until they are accepted into the virtual program.

Transfer Credits Retaking Previously Failed Courses

Foothills Education Charter High School seeks to assist students by providing transfer credit opportunities when space is available. This provides a student with the opportunity to recover necessary credits through Foothills that will allow the student a timely graduation.

  • Transfer credits are available at a nonrefundable fee of $150 per Carnegie Unit for BCSS students. There is a $5 processing fee for all payments. Students enrolled full time at Foothills do not pay tuition.
  • Students may enroll in one course at a time during the August-May academic year, and up to two courses during the June-July summer period.
