GASROE Presents Guardian Award to BCSO & BCSS

logos and award

The Barrow County School System would like to thank the Georgia Alliance of School Resource Officers and Educators (GASROE) for including us in a special recognition honoring the heroic actions of the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office SROs Brandon King and Chase Boyd on September 4, 2024.

GASROE Executive Director Murray Kogo presented BSCO Colonel Michael Hamm and BCSS Superintendent Dr. Dallas LeDuff with the first annual Ted Thomas Guardian Award for our partnership and commitment to school and community safety.

“As an organization built with school safety personnel, we recognize the dedication and commitment it takes to keep our schools safe across the state. Through your leadership and support, Apalachee High School had SROs available to respond quickly. The partnership with the school system and sheriff's office is vital for school safety efforts,” said GASROE President Danielle Rosa.

The Ted Thomas Legacy Award is in memory of the GASROE co-founder Ted Thomas who dedicated his life to school safety not just in Georgia, but on a National level with the National Association for School Resource Officers (NASRO).
