Barrow County Teams Collaborate at School Safety Conference

safety conference group

Just like they do each day for our community here, Barrow County teams are partnering to help other school districts and emergency responders enhance school safety. Members of the Barrow County School System, Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, and Barrow County Fire and Emergency Medical Services, along with Georgia State Representative Holt Persinger, were invited to attend the 2025 Georgia School Safety and Homeland Security Conference this week. The annual conference focuses on the latest measures available and best practices in school safety.

To help others be prepared and share knowledge, the Barrow County teams presented about emergency response considerations that included the importance of partnering with agencies on full-scale exercises, the impact of Barrow's innovative Rescue Task Force (RTF) program, considerations on reunification and evacuation procedures post critical safety incident, as well as the impact of recently passed school safety legislation sponsored by local representatives.

We are grateful for the continued collaboration between our local agencies, along with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security.
