With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle School Education from the University of Georgia, Dr. Al Darby began his educational journey in 1998. Since then, he has received a Doctorate in Education, with a focus on Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2010. He received a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Nova University in 2007, and a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Clark-Atlanta University in 2003.

Dr. Darby graduated from Winder-Barrow High School and then went on to become its principal. He's worked with Barrow County School System since 2004. Before that, he was a teacher and assistant football and basketball coach in Jackson County. He's also taught in the Social Circle School System and worked as the head boys basketball coach.

In his role as Chief Administrative Officer for Athletics and Student Affairs, Dr. Darby works to develop and implement the strategic vision for district interscholastic activities and athletics, which will include providing support and staff development at all levels.
