Heather Cates

I joined the Barrow County School District in 2020, bringing over a decade of experience in parenting, mental health support, and school psychology. I strive to bring positive and healing energy into my interactions with students, parents, and school employees, and build collaborative relationships between home and school. I enjoy working individually with students to assess their learning profiles and develop appropriate supports and plans for students with disabilities and learning differences.

I also enjoy running (completed my first marathon in 2019), cycling, and reading. I live in Athens with my husband of thirteen years, and our two delightful and energetic boys.
