This makes the learning curve less pressured.
My colleagues in the department aren’t just my co-workers but they are family. We all get along, lend support to each other, and learn from each other. Teamwork is personified within the walls of Barrow ITS. Teamwork and support are facets of the perfect work/life balance possible, something I was definitely lacking.
At the end of the day, it about enhancing the student experience and it is rewarding to know that I am part of the process to make their experience the best it could be. Seeing the fascinated and joyous reactions of the students as you repair a damaged piece of equipment is rewarding, it’s hard not smile in those situations.”

Community - Having colleagues that share the same focus of creating a secure and ideal learning environment via technology makes you feel like your problems aren’t just yours but rather that they are a district problem that you can share with a team allowing for various perspectives allowing for the best solution. Because of the teamwork nature of ITS, your voice is always heard, opinions are respected and considered, and you can implement positive change.
Fulfillment - Knowing that my work doesn’t stop at just fixing a broken computer or answering what may seem like a silly question, but that what I do impacts teachers, administrators and students that are all working together to create a better future.
Work-life balance - Working for the public sector does come with its benefits of having many holidays off and a generous time off accrual. This is really a place where we all can agree that family comes first. Having administrators and colleagues that remember each of us is human does go a long way. I never want to take people’s understanding and kindness for granted.
