Celebrating Special Olympics 2023

Special Olympics Student Athletes and Teacher

Special Olympics in the Barrow County School System gives children with disabilities an opportunity to develop their physical fitness in a joyful way while demonstrating their skill and forming friendships at the same time. It's an opportunity for schools, families, and community members to come together and celebrate the abilities and gifts of our student athletes.

We'd like to thank the Special Olympics committee for their hard work and dedication to the remarkable event that made memories on Friday, April 21, 2023. Your tireless efforts made Special Olympics possible for the first time in nearly four years. You brought happiness and inspiration to so many student athletes, families, and staff!

We also want to thank Winder-Barrow High School for hosting the event, BCSS Transportation for getting our athletes to the event safely, our teachers and parapros for their supervision and support, and our student volunteers who served as buddies or manned stations. A special thank you to Bethlehem Church, The Heirloom Sisters, Oconee Inflatables, and FarmHouse Apparel for the donations and continued support.
