Back-to-BOLD offers Free Backpacks, School Supplies, Haircuts & More

Thanks to the generosity of several churches, businesses, organizations, and community members, we are grateful to be able to share free backpacks filled with school supplies to begin the 2025-26 school year!

This event will be an even bigger opportunity to help your family get ready for school. We are happy to expand to a walk-in event this year, and to work with additional partners from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, Bethlehem Church, the Barrow County Health Department, EVE Women’s Ministry, the Piedmont Regional Library System, Peach State Health Plan, Shoes That Fit, Rollins Gives, Cable East Inc. and the Barrow Literacy Partnership to bring you Back-to-BOLD on Friday, July, 25, 2025.

Stop by Apalachee High School between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. to benefit from the following offerings, while supplies last:

  • Free backpack filled with school supplies from community partners in education
  • Free haircuts for children coordinated by BCSO with volunteer stylists & barbers
  • Free shoes for children thanks to EVE Women’s Ministry and Shoes That Fit
  • Immunizations for Middle and High School Students of Hep A, Menquadifi/Menactra, TDAP, HPV by the Health Department
  • Free eye exams from PSHP
  • School Bus Tour & Answers to School Transportation Questions
  • School Nutrition Information with Free and Reduced Application Assistance
  • PRLS Mobile Public Library and free PINES public library cards
  • Free book for younger siblings, infant to age five from the Barrow Literacy Partnership
  • Mental Health Resources, including access to free online sessions with counselors

Please note the following details:

  • All services and backpacks are while supplies last.
  • Students do not need to be present to receive a backpack.
  • This event is for any Barrow County Pre-K through 12th grade student.
  • Limit of up to 4 backpacks per household.
  • Follow signs to enter through the main doors closest to both gymnasiums.
  • Everyone will be screened through the weapons detection system.
  • Only park in legal spaces on the campuses of AHS, HMMS, and YES.

Want to donate backpacks and school supplies?

We welcome additional donations of backpacks filled with the school supplies listed below. These can be dropped off with volunteers at the gymnasium of 54 West Star Street in Bethlehem from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on July 21.
